Not having children by choice is no big deal. But facing the reality that you can not have children of your own is painful even if you would have chosen not to.
You know how Simon and I solved the problem (successfully) - it maybe (and was) very painful at first to face the realization, but once you accept the solution, you can move on! Nowadays there are so many different ways to handle the problem, but each individual has to come to terms with the problem and make a decision -very hard to do but possible, I assure you!
